SAT Overview :
  • The SAT consists of four sections: Reading (52 questions/65 min), Writing and Language (44 questions/35 min), Math without Calculator (20 questions/25 min), and Math with Calculator (38 question/55 min).
  • All sections are in multiple choice format
  • Additionally, Math section has free answers question.
  • The test is offered each school year in October, November, December, March, April (school organized) May, June, and August.
  • Most students start preparing for it in the summer before their sophomore year. in average, it takes two to three trials to achieve the desired score.
Exam length :
  • SAT is a three hours test
Score :
  • SAT is scored out of 1600, and it introduced sub scores and cross-section scores.
  • Wrong guesses are not penalized with negative marks

52 multiple choice questions based on the passages
4 full-length passages and one paired set of passages, followed by 10-11 multiple-choice reading comprehension questions.
Prior topic-specific knowledge is not tested. You do need to know how to read 🙂
You might have some informational graphics, such as tables, graphs, and charts, along with some passages, maximum 3-4 per test. No math or calculator is required.
SAT reading does not test vocabulary anymore; however, having a good vocabulary foundation is essential in acing this section
  • One passage from a classic or contemporary work of U.S. or world literature.
  • One passage or a pair of passages from either a U.S. founding document or a text in the Great Global Conversation they inspired. The U.S. Constitution or a speech by Nelson Mandela, for example.
  • A selection about economics, psychology, sociology, or some other social science.
  • Two science passages (or one passage and one passage pair) that examine foundational concepts and developments in Earth science, biology, chemistry, or physics.
